Your 15 Minutes of Fame Are Up
The older I get the more I realize that being yourself is the only thing that truly matters. There is no point or purpose in pretending to be someone else. As I get older, I realize that people don't care who you were in high school. Case in point, I was semi popular in highschool, but I surely wasn't the most popular, the prettiest, ore even the smartest. I was just your average girl. I guess I take comfort in the fact that I am still becoming myself and haven't hit my peak yet. I feel bad for the people who peaked in highschool and are now the has-beens with no future. Does that make me a bad person? Probably. Oh well.

My Favorite Place on the Planet
So I was inspired to write about my favorite place on the planet a few days ago, I think I may have written about it before here and there, but I am not sure I ever fully explained why I chose that spot or what it meant to me.
So the place I'd rather go to any other place on the planet is a spot behind a toolshed (or machinery shed) on my parent's farm. The shed sits on a bit of a hill with fields green either wheat, soybeans, or corn during the spring, summer, and fall. Sitting out there especially in late summer and early fall before the crops come off, particularly when corn is planted makes me feel isolated and safe. It also gives me a great view of east, north, and west. I love sitting out there during sunsets when it is cooler, dew has fallen on the grass and listening to great music while watching the sky turn different shades of blue, purple, orange, pinks, reds. It is absolutely gorgeous. It is the most peaceful place I can go to read, write, or just lay in the grass and contemplate.
Another reason why it is so special to me is that it brings back wonderful memories of growing up on the farm. When we were little my father built a wagon that hooked up to the back of the lawnmower and took us on rides. My particular favorite ride was when he'd drive down the side of the hill really fast and we'd always feel the breeze in our hair on summer evenings and see the sunset as we'd drive down the hill. As I got older I spent less time out there, but there were many times I'd take a blanket, my boombox (yep, I had a boombox), my bible, and a journal and just spend time with God back there relaxing and enjoying the expanse of green grass, the safety of the tall corn, and the beautiful weather and scenery that God had painted. There are many times now that I wish I could escape there on bad days and look forward to going home so I can spend a few hours out there just relaxing and being in awe and wonder of God's amazing love and creativity.

Soundtrack of Your Life Project
Music has become an integral part of human existence. It motivates us, calms us, inspires us, at times irritates us, and basically becomes the backdrop against which we live our lives. Songs can bring vivid memories of persons, places, and events from our own past and serve to document our thoughts, feelings, and emotions at a given time or place.
Part I Assignment: Imagine you were asked to compile a soundtrack for your life. What songs would you include? Collect the titles of at least ten songs that are meaningful to you and that you feel document something personal in your own life. Just as music producers do, try to create a progression in the sequence of your chosen songs. For example, your songs might be listed in the chronological order of the events they document, or they might be mixed together so that all of the slow songs are not back-to-back. DO NOT just list them randomly. Put some thought into the order of your songs and the complete package you are presenting.
Song Title Artist or Group
Track 1 Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez
When I feel lonely
Track 2 You're the One That I Want - Olivia Newton John and John Travolta
When I'm happy
Track 3 Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
When I'm sad
Track 4 Lost - Michael Buble
When I'm depressed
Track 5 Platypus I Hate You - Green Day
When I'm hating
Track 6 Hate The World Today - Starfield
When I'm mad
Track 7 I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie
When someone I know passes away
Track 8 Broken - Lifehouse
When I'm hurting
Track 9 When a Heart Breaks - Dave Barnes
When I get my heart broken
Track 10 Saving Grace - Bob Dylan
When I feel guilty
Now that you have created the imaginary soundtrack to your life, you will need to reflect on the experiences, persons, places, etc. that inspired this selection. Obviously you will also need to explain who you are as a person and then offer some type of reflection upon the imaginary album as a whole.
Topic #1—Explanation of yourself
This paragraph is basically a brief autobiography:
• Who are you? I am Gwen. I am crazy, intense, lovable. All sorts of
things.
• Where are you from? My mother's womb and Ohio
• Where are you now? In College
Your rationale or purpose in creating this soundtrack:
• What is this album you have created? I created an album based on my
complex emotions.
• Why are you completing it? I love doing these kinds of things. I feel
it can be a great way to find out about yourself, inform other people of
your uniqueness, and mainly because I had time before my next college
class.
• What do you hope to get out of this project? Like I said above, if out
of this project I learn something of myself; then, that is a great
thing.
• What do you see yourself doing with this later in life? Probably
looking back on it and wondering why I listened to that song or chose
that song.
• What goals did you have for creating it?Finding out more about myself.
I am a very inward looking person. I dwell alot on bettering myself and
finding out why I do or feel the things I do.
Why You Chose The Songs You Did:
• What does each song reveal about the kind of person you are and what you
think is important in you life? All of the song I chose were songs
that while I was facing one of those emotions, clicked with me. Songs
that cause a sort of physical reaction in me are the ones that stick with
me the most.
Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez to me is about having one perfect moment with someone you love, but never again can you have that perfect moment and over time you grow apart and lose that thing that made it special. It doesn't necessarily refer to romantic love, but in general. Every time I hear it, it breaks my heart a little.
You're The One That I Want from the movie Grease's Soundtrack is one of the most upbeat and happy songs I've ever heard. Every time I watch the movie or listen to the song it not only makes me want to get up and dance, it gives me hope that someday I will be the one that someone wants. I know it's cheesy, but it puts me in a better mood.
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley is without a doubt one of the saddest songs I've ever heard in my entire life, coupled with the way in which Jeff Buckley died makes me want to bawl like a baby every time I hear it. The mixing of religious metaphors intertwined with love stories, intertwined with betrayal and heartbreak makes it one of the best songs ever written. It has beautiful lyrics and Jeff Buckley's five octave range gives it the perfect vocals.
Lost by Michael Buble Okay, so this song does make me cry every damn time. But they are not sad tears, but more heartstrings tug tears. The music video which I posted earlier, just makes me weep like a weeping willow tree. The whole message of the song is that of someone who died and is watching over their loved ones who feel like they are lost and have no hope. And the person who has passed is giving them hope that "Baby you're not lost". It not only is beyond sad, but it is also wonderfully uplifting at the same time. It has the perfect balance of both emotions and when I'm feeling like I can't go on I put that song on and realize that no matter what emotion I am feeling at the moment, that I am not lost. I can go on.
The next song Platypus I Hate You by Green Day is pretty self explanatory. It is one of the most vicious songs I've ever heard, but I've thought and felt much worse when I'm pissed at someone. It takes me a lot to get to that point with people, but once you screw me over more than once, you are done. So yeah, that is definitely why I chose this song.
Hate the World Today by Starfield, is my perfect angst, anger song after I've had a horrible day. Plus, it's a bit slower, which are the songs I prefer to listen. And to top it all off, it talks about even though I'm hating the world at this moment in time, I'm loving the love that God has poured out his love for me and he will help me carry on and fight.
I chose, I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie, for the feeling of someone passing on. I've had a LOT of people I am close to die, and I'm over the weepy sad songs. I know that there is hope for those who died knowing Christ that they are living in Heaven. I chose instead the most romantic song I have EVER heard. It is this song. I love the idea of couples dying together after their life together is over and their race is done. It just makes me teary eyed and
then I have to watch the Notebook.
I firmly believe that there is no more fitting song than Broken by Lifehouse, to me it speaks to the very heart of my life and soul. Even when I have made all my mistakes, and I'm broken, bruised, and ugly to everyone else, God is still there waiting for me to give him everything. It's okay to fall apart and ask for his help. I don't have to be perfect. And there is healing in the name of Christ when you let go of the wounds, bruises, and hurts your carrying and call out to him. Beautiful song.
Well I've had more than one broken hearts to find out that, When A Heart Breaks, by Dave Barnes is a great song to describe what a broken heart feels like. My favorite lyrics talks about "it's a tear in the dark, all alone in the car in piece in pieces; it's the sound of mistake as I lie here awake sleepless, sleepless". Too many times I've done that exact same thing wondering what I did wrong, if I was ever going to find love, and my heart shattered in pieces. It's so beautiful and perfect.
Bob Dylan's Saving Grace is my perfect "feeling guilty" or apology song.
It's actually a song about dedicating your life to Christ (or at least my interpretation of it) and repenting for being wicked and a sinner. However, I feel that it could parallel relationships with people as well. I just love the song. It makes me want to go out into a field of wildflowers and dance.
Reflections of the project:
I really enjoyed this project to be honest. I thought that it made me look at songs at a deeper level. I've always been a person that looks more at the lyrics, than the music. I would much rather listen to a bad song "musically" that had great lyrics, than a great song musically with horrible lyrics. By actually looking at the lyrics and how they apply to your life is a great way to see where you are at, and what kind of person you want to be in the future. All of the above songs tell me personal things about myself and how good my life truly is. I often complain and bitch and moan about things, but life is good for the most part. I have food, shelter, warmth, and love. I'm blessed.
Enjoy the playlist!

The Question That Most People Have
Can there be true love without friendship?
Prompt #3.
I of course wholeheartedly believe that it is not possible. How can you truly love someone that you don't truly know? I believe that having a romantic relationship based on a friendship is the only way it will last. I have known far too many people who get married based only on attraction/lust and don't take time to actually find out what makes their partner unique, they don't take the time to become a friend to each other and more often than not it has ended in a bitter divorce.
Besides, who wants a romantic relationship with someone they don't truly know? I believe that a lasting and deep relationship is what most people strive for, without friendship, it means very little. Why else would I be with a person? It certainly would not be for purely physical reasons, as I want to remain a virgin until I get married. I guess for me, it comes down then to finding someone who will complete me, and without friendship that would never happen.
While taking time to form a friendship with someone of the opposite sex that you are interested in dating may seem arduous and strenuous, it should be well worth it in the end.
And here is a song that I have become obsessed with. It is very sad and romantic.

Art Interpretation with Gwennylou
I received an old book of Van Gogh paintings from my sister who got a much nicer edition for her birthday. I just opened it tonight, and was looking at this picture. This is probably my favorite piece of art that I have ever seen, live or in book. For some reason I just want to take a hammock and lay out there. It just comes across as peaceful, mysterious, and so vast. There is nothing I like less than feeling boxed in or restricted. This piece of art to me shows a completely different picture of that. I also love the colors used and the overall aesthetic features of it.
Some Poetry In Motion
The Wait
by Gwendolyn Kinsman
The journey has come again
The one I swore I'd never take.
It's so enticing, it's so surreal
That it's come to my door.
Should I throw away my sentiments
Or wait for something more?
The wait is the thing that keeps me strong
Especially the unknown of what's to come.
I'd wait for a million years
If I knew that it was one the one.
This path seems so enticing
Just ready for me to grab
But I see a shadow and dark cloud
Hanging overhead.
I do the only thing I can.
I stop and think.
And slowly reaching forward,
I close the door and wait some more.
The one I swore I'd never take.
It's so enticing, it's so surreal
That it's come to my door.
Should I throw away my sentiments
Or wait for something more?
The wait is the thing that keeps me strong
Especially the unknown of what's to come.
I'd wait for a million years
If I knew that it was one the one.
This path seems so enticing
Just ready for me to grab
But I see a shadow and dark cloud
Hanging overhead.
I do the only thing I can.
I stop and think.
And slowly reaching forward,
I close the door and wait some more.
Unwell
Do you think because you cry wolf, people will care?
Your bitter heart only pours out lies and anger
And no one would believe you if to tell the truth you did dare.
You spoil the good in everything you touch.
Only evil drips from your hands.
Nothing unfortunate enough to come in contact with you survives
And your hideousness is rampant throughout the land.
And yet you consider yourself a great person.
You think that because you are a female people will believe.
Well I'm telling you that I think you are a waste of life
And you are nothing but a festering cancerous disease.
My grievances with the world
Maybe because most of them suck at being people.
People are made to have relationships and have feelings
And I'm sick of all the people who only care about themselves and their own thing.
Open your eyes to the world around you
See that the world doesn't revolve around your petty problems.
In the person next to you, you'd be surprised to find what they are going through
And that your own delusions of grandeur are not as grand as you think.
There is nothing more pathetic than seeing someone constantly complaining
And thinking only they have things go wrong.
So next time your venting,
Realize that you're the only one who actually cares
Because people are dealing with their own stuff
And quit expecting me to pander to you.

Word Game Project
I had to do a word game project for my Phonics, Fluency, and Word Study class. I chose to go with helping middle school students learn vocabulary words that are supposedly middle childhood level. Apparently, middle school student should know what the word pulchritude is. Well considering, I had never heard of it until I started going through those list of words, I chose some of the harder words. I broke them down into suffixes, prefixes, and root words with definitions of each. I am planning on giving the definition of the word and see if my fellow classmates can guess the words based solely on the definitions on the back of the prefixes, suffixes, and root words. Then I am going to have them fill in a sheet with the words, with correct spelling in the blanks. The first group that wins is going to win something cool, like stickers, haha. I'll think of something good by October, when I present it. I'm looking forward to presenting it and seeing what my professor thinks of my techniques or ideas. She is after all a Doctor Of Education, meaning she has her Ph.D. in Education and was national teacher of the year twice. Yeah, big shoes to follow in. That is me looking morose and unsure that I will actually ever be able to live up to that.... (I was listening to some depressing music at the moment too, I might add).
I don't know if anyone is reading this it all, but for those of you who are, I'm always looking for new musicians to check out. They don't necessarily have to be "new" just new to me. So if you have an artist to recommend me, don't hesitate to leave a comment, and maybe I'll add it to my playlist if I like it enough.

Below is a picture of the word cards for the game, the vocabulary words I chose, and the worksheet to go along with it.
Why?
Here is the picture prompt for today with the caption, "All she wanted to do was camp out here forever?" Which leads me to the question, that I'm sure everyone has. WHY? It's ugly, it's cracked, it's faded, and it has no real appeal. Then of course I am reminded that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or as many college students say "beerholder". While all I see is ugliness and worthlessness, someone else sees something beautiful, peaceful, and worthy of a second glance.
Of course I am then reminded of how awesome our Heavenly Father is, because I am like the ugly, broken facade in the picture. But the Lord in his great mercy has deemed me worthwhile and beautiful in his eyes. So while others may judge outward appearance and base judgments on only only one glance, the Lord looks deeper, and thankfully he did. It reminds me to be thankful everyday for his grace and mercy that he poured out for me and for dying to take my sins away. It also reminds me that there is beauty in everything, every person, and in every circumstance or trial that we go through. It definitely reminds me of this song by Jason Mraz...

The Start of Something New
So I am trying a new thing called 365 Pictures Daily Prompt. So you look at a picture and you discuss what is going on. In this particular picture there is an elderly man sitting on the edge of his bathtub in the "thinking man" pose. Many of you are probably aware of the famous thinking man sculpture. Of course the question or prompt is "What was/is the thinking man really thinking about?"
I of course am quite familiar with this particular sculpture, because the university I attend has a large replica in front of one of our buildings. I often wonder as I walk past it, what he is thinking about. Sometimes I think he is watching all the college students walk by and is wondering about the wide variety of people he sees on a daily basis. Sometimes I project my thoughts onto him, such as, "man I could really go for a burrito right about now." I of course know that Alfred (which I have dubbed "thinking man"), couldn't possibly be thinking that since he has no lips.
As I contemplate this more and more, I am lead to one belief. I am glad that I do not know what Alfred is thinking. I believe that our inner thoughts, ramblings, meanderings, and all the things we as humans are prone to do, are very private. I struggle enough with my own thoughts and beliefs, that I don't think I could handle another person's beliefs and thoughts about something as well. As much as it is annoying sometimes to not know what is going on in someone else's head, it is also a gift I believe.
As I endeavor on this journey of writing one blog post a year for 365, I wonder how it will help me in my writing. I feel that taking 5 or 10 minutes out of my day to write about random topics will not only incite my creativity, but it will help me as a future English/Grammar/Writing teacher in the future. Will I make some grammar mistakes and have some misspellings? I'm sure of that;but, putting pen to paper, or in this case fingers to keyboard, will serve as future inspiration...

Lonely.
Sometimes I think
I wished on the wrong star
Cuz I always seem so far
From the one that I dream of
It’s hard to wait for love
But I'll make it on my own
Cuz I'm learning to be strong
But it’s never easy standing all alone
This is for the lonely
This is for the lonely
We all live underneath the same blue sky
This is for the lonely ones tonight
I'll help you find a way
To hold on
Yeah. I'm one of the lonely ones.

Trouble.
“Trouble”- William Tell
The trouble I’ve found
It’s not only just in me
We’ve all got it somehow somewhere
For no one else to see
Pull yourself up off the ground
‘Cause we all have our things
You know that I always, always
Will listen when you speak
To the trouble in me
The trouble I’ve found
It’s not only just in me
We’ve all got it somehow somewhere
For no one else to see
Pull yourself up off the ground
‘Cause we all have our things
You know that I always, always
Will listen when you speak
To the trouble in me

Crashing....
What a freaking long almost three months it's been...
To start off Christmas season was insane like usual. Went home did the usual home/family stuff. Break was nice.
Went back to school the beginning of this month and tried desperately to get back into the swing of things. I think it took me this long to figure out what a good sleep cycle does for school stuff. It doesn't hurt it, it helps it! Wow.
Back in December my dad took me to a Detroit RedWings hockey game for my birthday which was pretty much amazing. The Wings of course won 5-2 over the Hurricanes. I had a great time with my dad. I also got to go to a Jon McLaughlin concert as well, which was amazing.
Let's see I also bought some new electronic stuff, like an HD LCD TV and a hdd/dvd recorder. It of course is amazing.
School is going good. So far I'm doing well in my classes, last semester I got 3 A's and one B. So not too bad at all if I do say so myself.
I'm sore and tired. Of course the sore part is from pulling a muscle in my chest Wall and sleeping funny. And the tired part is me trying to be wonder woman, xena, and superwoman all the same time with no sleep and caffeine pills. Not a good mix. I think I"ll crash now.

I was created to passionately pursue God, to enjoy Him and to carry out His purpose for my life. I will fulfill the purpose for which I am created-passionately with all my heart, all my mind, all my soul, and all my strength!
Mark 12:29-30
"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

Jesus Paid It All...
Jesus Paid It All
I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness....watch and pray
Find in me....thine all in all
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin hath left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin hath left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim
I'll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calvary's Lamb
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin hath left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
And when before thy throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin hath left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Oh praise the One, who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead!
I am thankful that God gave his son to save my soul and that my wellbeing and that He cares about what happens to me. Thank You Jesus. I don't deserve your love, and I don't deserve the sacrifice you made for me.
Isaiah 1:18-
"Come now, let us argue this out," says the LORD. "No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool.

This too shall pass.
I am at a stage in my life where I have become very self reflective. For many years I would do what I wanted, when I wanted to it. However, lately, I have started to become very self aware of what I am doing. I am seeing whether or not I'm doing it for selfish reasons, whether or not I am viewing a situation from an emotional standpoint, or whether or not I am actually seeing the real thing or just something I have imagined. While doing this I have also become much more of aware of my flaws and shortcomings. Believe me a few years ago, you would have not thought it was the same person. I refused to take responsibility for anything, I viewed everyone else as having the problem and not myself. But lately my views have shifted and change. I don't know if this is from growing and maturing in my relationship with Christ, but I believe it's necessary. I know that I may be annoying to some people who think I am only being self reflective for selfish reasons, and only want attention, but I can guarantee that is not the case. I would much rather not focus on my flaws and faults and focus on trivial and meaningless things. However, I simply cannot do that any longer. I'm thankful that God is not yet done with me and not yet finished working in my life. I take great pleasure in knowing that God values me and finds me worthwhile to keep trying and testing me so that my faith becomes perfected. Thank you Jesus for placing me in the life you did, and for giving me a divine purpose and destiny.
On the other hand, I have noticed myself becoming more and more judgmental of other people, and becoming more and more withdrawn from social situations and from people in general. I know I have hurt some people with my actions and words, and have not always been the most easy person to understand, or the most easy person to deal with, but for those who have stuck by me through it all, I thank you deeply. I am glad that the Lord has placed you in my life for such a time as this. Some of you, have been placed in my life to sharpen me, some to encourage me and give me strength, and some to just listen. Whatever part you play in my life, big or small, thank you for letting the Lord use you in my life. I pray that when all is said and done, my life will bring glory to the Father.
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
